Is your day more chaotic than you would like? Do you find yourself forgetting or neglecting important goals? It is easy to get caught up in the ever-mounting stress of a fast-paced profession, competition, quotas, economic downturns and financial pressures. When that happens, we don't really know if each task or activity is getting us closer to our daily, weekly, or monthly goals. We don't think we have time to prioritize our activities and yet without some kind of direction, we end up spinning our wheels, wasting precious time. When you make the effort to organize each day before it begins, it can become easier to knock out your to-do list. Knowing where your time goes and what your priorities are will be the key to sanity.
Mapping out each day, organizing each activity, is the solution to stepping off the merry-go-round. Your first activity of the day is to step away from the busy-ness and distractions and focus on what you want to accomplish. With practice, you'll be able to carry that focus and attention throughout the day. You'll be able to clearly see the tasks that are important, what you're wasting your time on, and what to put on the waiting list. The tension and stress of a fast moving environment will lessen when you have a daily map to follow. If you can't get to the ‘right' activities because you're spinning in circles, carve out a few minutes every morning and make a roadmap of your activities. This will be the shortest and clearest path to your short and long term goals.
