Don't start a call with “How are you” and “I was just calling”. Starting out your call with”How are you” makes you sound like everyone else and “I was just calling” diminishes the importance of the call.

How competitive is your business? It is probably very competitive. If you sound like everyone else, you have commoditized yourself. Think different, be different and sound different and you will set yourself apart from the crowd. Apple is a great example.
