The secret to success in sales is prospecting! Yes, that's right. The definition of prospecting is, the physical search for or physical labor. So what are we all searching for? We are searching for new customers or new business from our existing customers. Prospecting is and will always be the foundation of all successful businesses. Period!
Think back to the 1850's and the California gold rush. When the prospector found a gold nugget, did he or she sell the nugget and stop prospecting? I don't think so. When the gold mine stopped producing gold, did they give up? Some may have. The successful prospectors went and found a new mine.
By the way, contrary to popular opinion, cold calling is NOT dead. There are many salespeople that believe it doesn't work anymore. Let them believe that. Not you. I didn't say cold calling wasn't hard work. It is hard. However, when your reason is strong enough everything else seems easy.
