I love cinnamon rolls. Out of all the pastries, donuts, cakes, pies, etc., cinnamon rolls are still the best. A couple a years ago I branched out and found caramel rolls with pecans on top to be a close second. However, nothing compares to a good old fashioned cinnamon roll.
My future has already been written.
When I would travel on business I would search for cinnamon rolls either in the hotel or a bakery close by. Several years ago I attended a social media conference in Dallas with a mastermind group. One of members Paul, heard about a world class bakery that made 10 pound cinnamon rolls. Off he went and if I remember correctly Paul came back with two. That's 20 pounds of pure delight. What can I say. One of the best tasting cinnamon rolls I've ever wrapped my lips around. And no, I didn't eat the whole thing. That would have been disgusting.
Why all this talk of cinnamon rolls?
Because I can't have any. PERIOD! The treatment plan I am currently going through for cancer, sweets are an absolute NO, NO and ALL sweets are OFF the table. The holidays were a little challenging. I love homemade Christmas cookies. There were plenty to go around and I stayed clear. By the way, this is not a “poor me” post so you feel sorry for me. I'm not looking for sympathy.
Jane and I went for a walk the other day at the Burnsville Center. As we were walking I noticed out of the corner of my eye a fresh baked pan of cinnamon rolls from one of the food vendors. I couldn't resist stopping and taking a picture of those amazing looking cinnamon rolls. I just stood there for minutes taking in that sweet aroma of baked cinnamon and cream cheese frosting melting all over that hot bun. It was almost too much to handle. LOL
Jane is so funny. As I was standing there she said, “Why do you do this to yourself. You know you can't eat it?” I said, “You're right. I can't eat it now. I'm standing here visualizing the day I will devour one of those bad boys!”
When I am having a really rough day and there have been a few, I stay focused on that cinnamon roll and what's in my future. My future has already been written. According to His word, it's finished!
Psalms 103:1-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
What's in your future?
P.S. Wait till I start talking about pizza. LOL
