In one of my favorite books, The Five Major Pieces To The Life Puzzle, author Jim Rohn spends an entire chapter on attitude. I would like to share the ideas and principles he shares in the book, so you can begin to understand the importance of talents, assets, and attitude as you approach your business.
The bottom line is this. Having the right attitude is essential for success and happiness. It is a major factor in how our lives turn out. We don’t just need a healthy attitude about the present and future, but also about the past.
One of the things that can stop us from recognizing our gifts and talents is a poor attitude about our self. How we feel about ourselves is a matter of choice. Our attitude is a product of the decisions and choices we have made based on the information and knowledge we have acquired.
Past
Our past is full of lessons for our present and future. If we have the right attitude, we view it as a school. We do not use it like a baseball bat that we use to beat ourselves up over past mistakes.
There is nothing we can do to change the past. If we focus on our past mistakes it will prevent us from creating a better future. Don’t believe me? Try driving your car by looking in the rear view mirror. What will happen?
Present
What we have is today. It's really important we use our focus to concentrate on the now. Be present. How we approach and utilize today is really a function of attitude.
“The current moment is where our better future begins. The past gave us a wealth of memories and experiences, and the past gives us a chance to use them wisely” ~ Jim Rohn
So, how is your attitude about your past and present? Is it creating the right foundation for your future?
