As I shared last week (LAST WEEK), in one of my favorite books, Jim Rohn spends an entire chapter on attitude. In The Five Major Pieces To The Life Puzzle Jim shares some specific ideas and principles to help us understand the importance of all talents, assets, and attitude as you approach your business.
I said it last week… Having the right attitude is essential for success and happiness. It is a major factor in how our lives turn out. We don’t just need a healthy attitude about the past, present and future.
“Our attitude about the future depends on our ability to see the future. Each of us has the inherent ability to dream, design and experience the future through the power of an imaginative inner-eye. Whatever the mind has the capacity to imagine, it also has the ability to create.” ~ Jim Rhon
Everything that we see today was finished in the mind of our creator before it was ever created. Like the computer screen you are using to read this, it was finished before it was ever manufactured.
We also have to check our results on a regular basis. There are a few ways to do this:
- Tangible: material possessions like homes, cars, bank accounts, investments or any other tangible assets.
- Intangible: Joy, health, love, family, health, experiences, friendships. These are always way more important any material possessions. You can have significant wealth but have extremely poor health.
One of the points that Jim makes in the book is if we lack in any area whether assets, health, joy, happiness, etc, it is a good indicator that something needs to change.
We may need to change our philosophy, attitude, activity and more to increase the results. In other words if you are not satisfied with where you are at right now at this point in your life, then NOW is the time to fix the future.
Truth be told, the future that awaits you is full of new discoveries, pitfalls, adventure, and immense joy and satisfaction. However, few of these things will be realized if you don’t make the conscious decision to take charge of your own life. As you stand in the doorway, hesitating to step out into the world, remember, that you are the only one who is responsible and capable of making your life better.
Next week I will share how a person can go about taking that initial step to self-reliance and freedom.
