In November 1989 I filed bankruptcy. I lost everything I had of any material value. What I didn't lose was all of the skills I had developed over the previous nine years. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. It taught me many things. The biggest thing it taught me was the borrowrer is servant to the lender.
So what did I do in the middle of this crisis? Well the most rational thing I could think of was start a business. That's right. I started Telemasters with $50.00. Was I nuts? Well, most around me thought I was. There were a few who believed. Today, I'm on an airplane flying to San Antonio to meet with my mastermind group and my first big social media event #BOSS. Thank you Carrie Wilkerson @barefoot_exec! Looking back after almost 20 years it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. When you are in the middle of a crisis playing it safe won't work. It seems logical to play it safe. I could have played it safe and found a secure job, let's say with a big established company. However, where would I be today?
