I am almost finished reading Crush It! Why Now Is The Time To Cash In On Your Passion by Gary Vaynerchuk. I couldn't wait to write this post before I finished the book. The book is full of great ideas on how anyone, yes anyone, that is passionate about one thing can truly cash in on his or her passion. I love books like this that are easy to read and are full ideas that you and I can take action on. There is nothing complicated about it. We all have the tools and the platforms available at our fingertips to express ourselves and create a community. This is a must read for anyone that is fed up with there job or life for that matter. I love what Jim Rohn said many years ago, “The books you don't read can't help you.”
Are you looking for a new start? Are you tired of sitting in a cube all day long and doing something that you don't enjoy doing? Life is too short. It's time to stop talking and take action on what you love to do. What do you have to lose? You may say, my house, car, maybe everything. So what. It's only stuff. What is the real risk? The real risk is you spend your entire life doing something you really aren't passionate or excited about.
My father used to come home from work many days and complain about his job and everything around him. That is no way to live. As long as I can remember he complained about something. Maybe he felt trapped, scared to change or saw no way out. I remember both he and my mother worked sometimes two and three jobs. We had a family of eight that they needed to support. They were willing to do whatever was necessary to keep a roof over our head, food on the table and clothes on our back. I am truly grateful for that. I also realize starting your own business back then took a tremendous amount of capital. Entry to starting your own business wasn't as easy as it is today. My father was always preaching to get with a good company and stay there for life. Which he did. But he wasn't happy.
Today is much different and that is Gary's whole point. Entry to creating your own community online costs next to nothing. Gary lays out the necessary steps to take your passion and bring it online. The biggest challenge that I see for most is, they aren't willing to do what is necessary. To be successful you must be willing to put in the hours. Jim Rohn said, “You can choose to work any 80 hours a week you want.”
My mom and dad both taught me about having a strong work ethic, the importance of working hard and always doing your best no matter what. Thanks mom and dad! Are you willing to do what is needed to get what you want out of life? The choice is yours. Let's go “Crush It” together. How about it?
