How competitive is your business? If you sound like everyone else, you have commoditized yourself.
With this call the sales person starts off the call with, “How are you today?” The prospect immediately responds with, “Sounds like a sales guy”. If you start your call out with, “How ya doin?,” you will sound like a sales guy. Then the sales person says, “I'm not just calling to try and sell you something.” Never tell the prospect that you are not trying to selling something. That is why you are making the call. Right?
I received a call a while back from a sales person that started out the call with, “I'm not trying to sell you something.” I responded with, “Why are you calling me?” His response, “I'm calling to set an appointment.” I said, “So you are selling me an appointment?” His response, “No, I'm not selling you anything.” I responded with, “Thanks for calling and have a great day.” And, I hung up. End of story.
Agree, disagree?
