You may think your business and the IT Department are totally different and on different parts of the world, but that is far from the truth. If you run your business locally, it can be a challenge to bring it online. Hiring an IT person to help you make this happen, is a great way to look at your business as a whole.
The IT person will ask you questions about things that need to go on your website. You’ll need to explain your business to this person so they can write it up in a way that anyone will be able to read and understand. When you go through this, you should think about what you offer and if it makes sense to you to continue to offer them.
You will need to remove items that are not helping you grow. Maybe these items are not up to date or maybe they are not a popular item any more. There is no reason to continue to offer these items when they are not working for you. Don’t have the mentality that you might make a sale, so I should keep them on the site.
When speaking to an IT person you trust what they say and believe that they won’t lead you down the wrong road. You need to do the same with your customers. Run your business in a way that will show your customers you care and want to help them. Don’t try to make the most money when it’s not necessary.
If your customers trust you, they will believe every word you say. They will have faith in you, but more importantly know that you have their best interest in mind. When this happens, they will do what you tell them to do. Computers are the same way. We tell them to do something and that’s what they do.
There are so many things we can learn from those that work in an IT Department. They bring out things that we might not otherwise think about because we are in a rut and we forget that we know everything there is to know about our business, while our customers may not.
